XXV Collection – Spring 2025

XXV marks a quarter-century of Alexander Lamont.

The XXV collection reflects the strength that has given life and vitality to our journey so far: the flair and commitment of our workshop teams, and the dedicated skills of our craftspeople. Their individual artistry and expertise bring forth objects and furniture that recall an ancient time when the patient work of hand and eye were valued and vital in ways that today are largely forgotten.

“Per aspera ad astra; through hardship to the stars” – Seneca, Roman philosopher and playwright

The collection offers pieces that are strong and monumental in their structure and precise and ravishing in their detail, tone and craft. They appear to be hewn from shagreen, parchment, richly pigmented straw – like architectural remnants or modern blocks that flower into cabinets and credenzas, side tables and lounge chairs, lamps and wall sconces.

A sense of the primordial and the urban live side by side in this collection reminding us that everything we touch and see comes from history – whether formed by millennial weather patterns or by centuries of human endeavour.

The monotone minimalism of the Barbican cabinet in shagreen and bronze inspired by the idea of ancient city walls, has hidden handholds seemingly carved out of a block of shagreen and textured bronze top and details; the Casque bar cabinet in Amethyst Ombre straw marquetry strikes a regal tone with its rich, powerful colour wrapping the piece in ombre straw marquetry, and typography-inspired bronze top.

The tables in this collection evoke rocky outcrops in a timeworn landscape with the layered shagreen slabs of the Malham tables in tones of saffron and Egyptian blue; and the dark textural brass bases of the Tor tables with shagreen tops in Umber or Natural tones that are like rising landscapes veiled in shadow or bathed in bright sunlight.

Intricate slices of travertine stone and breccia marble provide a cool surface for the generously proportioned Lorna nightstand, and the nesting Ondas side tables paired with the warm beauty of straw marquetry. The Ondas side tables are designed by Alberto Velez for Alexander Lamont.

The Dais chairs rise marmoreal from the floor as if carved from a solid block of alabaster, yet when approached, velvety parchment and sculptural details invite the touch, and stately proportions promise perfect comfort. The Dais chairs are designed by Alberto Velez for Alexander Lamont.

Ondas translates as ‘wave’ in Spanish, and Alberto Velez, Colombian designer of these chairs for Alexander Lamont, pursued this rhythmic idea of movement – the rise and fall – seen in the legs of this chair. The Ondas chairs have been wrapped meticulously in natural parchment. There is a beautiful tonal variety between different hides and a supply leather-handle giving a luxurious tactility and uniqueness to every chair. Available in natural-tone parchment and in two gorgeous hand-dyed tones – Celadon and Coral red.

Lighting elements become art for the walls with the elegant forms of the Cicero sconce like pendant earrings bearing a central stone. The Ondas sconce like the swell of the sea rising around a textured bronze element, introduces cast glass to the collection. The Ondas sconce is designed by Alberto Velez for Alexander Lamont

The parchment façades of the Citadel floor lamp are like the distant towers of a settlement; like seeds or eggs that contain their energy within, the Iris sconces are textured bronze bowls that glow beautifully with the light of pure gold. Each lighting element brings intrigue and playfulness to the light and a sculptural presence to the room.

XXV brings together ideas from a lifetime of passion for the decorative arts. Alexander calls his work a ‘vocation’; an alchemy of traditional skills meeting history, nature and ideas in a place that is constantly evolving, searching for something fresh but also meaningful and expressive for contemporary interiors.
