The new Suji parchment technique is a fresh take on the Mighty Table, a classic Alexander Lamont design. Playing with the intrinsic textile qualities of parchment, Alex and his design team have developed an innovative patterned surface, inspired by the ancient Japanese craft of Suji tie-dye.
Khun Pea, in-house designer for Alexander Lamont says that the parchment’s ability to fold, compress and take on patterns led her to experiment with tie-dye. The meticulous folding and tying of the parchment was only the first step in a series of precisely timed and executed techniques. Tie-dying innately creates a one-of-a-kind piece, resplendent with the artist’s handwork and individual touch.
